Growing up in today’s world offers a broad range of opportunities to young people – especially in Europe’s ICT industries on the edge to the Future Internet. In order to draw a vivid picture of the plethora of opportunities in academia and industry for girls and young women in particular, the annual “Girl’s Day” event is organized by several organisations in Germany. Girl’s Day is funded by the Federal Ministry for Education and Research, the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth and by the European Social Fund.
As announced previously, FIcontent technologies became part of this year’s event at Fraunhofer IAIS campus in Birlinghoven near Cologne, Germany. Participants took the chance to try out latest developments in the Social Connected TV area. They tested and discussed the possibilities offered by synchronised content in multi-screen scenarios, and used FIcontent web applications to look into audio-visual news content (provided by Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg).
Finally, participants expressed themselves creatively, using wireframe scribbles to show what they expect from Future Internet applications related to Social Connected TV. One outcome was that content platforms with rich linking functionalities were highly appreciated, as well as having options to access to content-related web resources.
A photo album has been published on the Fraunhofer IAIS Facebook page.
