The Pervasive Games platform of FIcontent was showcased at the Zurich start-up fair 2014 at the beginning of this month. The start-up fair is the biggest national fair for young entrepreneurs – an excellent platform where start-ups, service providers, agencies, start-up promoters, universities, investors and the media all come together under one roof. This year, the Zürich startup fair attracted around 90 exhibitors and 2000 visitors. FIcontent partners demonstrated their AR enablers to a public of entrepreneur developers, to promote the use of the FI-PPP technologies.
This event specifically targeted SMEs and small game studios — the perfect group to benefit from the FI-PPP technology, especially in Phase 3 of the program. Three FIcontent partners working on the Pervasive Game Platform (ETH Zurich, Disney Research Zurich, and Studio Gobo) attended the day-long fair and set up several prototypes of FIcontent technology, including ARPix, Augmented Resistance, Skye Wars (with the Skye blimp from our SIGGRAPH demonstration last year) and AR Travelers. We also used this opportunity to explore FIcontent technology designed for the Thymio educational robot, which introduces programming to our youngest citizens.
Partners engaged with the Swiss startup gaming community to discuss the use of technology enablers from the Pervasive Game Platform and the wider FI-PPP program, directing all SME visitors to Phase 3 information. Aside form this technical mission, we also used the opportunity to expand our outreach to use communities within the Zuirch game testbed and the wider Swiss game developer scene, including concrete discussions with the Swiss Game Developers Association and the new Zurich University of the Arts startup incubator.
