Innovation capabilities in Europe are nowadays closely interlinked with extensive knowledge in Computer Science. Thus, it is important to embrace young people to take studies in information technology and to explore the possibilities that come along with skills in software engineering, multimedia pattern recognition and distributed systems.
To do so, FIcontent in general and the Social Connected TV platform in particular were presented as a vivid example for exciting research and development: 30 pupils, going to finish school next year and currently taking advanced courses in informatics, visited Fraunhofer IAIS at the Fraunhofer Campus Birlinghoven near Cologne, Germany. They learned about content technologies which enable new applications and enriched TV experiences and have been developed by FIcontent. Thereby, the pupils got an impression of future career paths both in scientific research and in software engineering.
